Threshold of Time, 2024

Size: 23.6 × 15.7 inches

Materials: Wooden Board, wires, nails, wire, drill bits, leather, dirt

This work uses leather as its central medium, with its surface marked by uncontrollable cracks, revealing the irreversible erosion and transformation of materials over time. Electrical wires are precisely installed on the leather, creating tension that forms a geometric shape, symbolically constructing a “portal.” However, the instability of this structure serves as a metaphor for the complex tension between nature and human intervention. The inevitable dominance of nature is evidenced by the fragments of leather continuously falling from its surface, signifying nature’s gradual “takeover” of artificial forms. Through this ongoing dynamic process, the work explores the profound relationship between time, materiality, and human intervention.
