A monolithic block formed from soil
Materials: soil, steel bars, branches.

Soil is the origin and destination of all things. It is the foundation of life, the vessel where growth begins. We build houses upon it, walk across it, plants root themselves in it, and animals make it their home. Soil is not only a witness to the cycle of life but also a medium that carries and reshapes history and memory. In this work, soil is molded into a rigid geometric form, symbolizing the tension between nature and human intervention. Embedded within the soil are architectural materials such as metal, concrete, and wood—symbols of human intent, representing construction, transformation, and control. However, under the influence of time, these materials become enveloped and eroded by the soil, losing their original functionality and becoming part of the natural cycle. This contrast explores the power of time and the continuous cycle of nature. Soil shapes and conceals, preserves and reconstructs. Though human structures attempt to impose order and define space, time inevitably reclaims and reshapes them. Through this process, the work explores the dynamic relationship between the artificial and the natural, reflecting the irreversible transformations brought by time. Soil remains the enduring foundation of life—an unyielding, timeless element.
